For Brexit and democracy! I am a firm believer in national sovereignty and the importance to the people of the United Kingdom of finally breaking free from the shackles of the European Union. Only by totally and unequivocally leaving the EU can the UK become a full player on the world stage once again. I believe that the people of the UK are more than able to make their own decisions and do not need a supra-national politically driven body such as the EU to tell them how to live.

Nigel Farage Fires Broadside at Boris Johnson! |
(Y) | Nigel Farage |
The Brexit Party leader, Nigel Farage, has fired another broadside at Boris Johnson, claiming that the newly installed Prime Minister will not take us out of the European Union by the 31st of October.

Nigel Farage has claimed in an interview with The Times, that Boris Johnson will not deliver Brexit by the stated date of Hallowe'en and further that there could well be not one, but two General Elections in the UK within six months.
Farage said that Boris Johnson and the Tories were only riding high in the polls at the moment because voters think he is going to deliver a hard, no-deal Brexit.
But Boris is only saying those things, said Farage, because he wants to suppress The Brexit Party.
Farage is now saying that there was only a 10-20% chance of the UK leaving and that another delay was more likely.
But, said Farage, The Brexit Party is here to stay and it only exists because the Tories have failed on Brexit.
And he went on to say that the Conservative Party should stand aside in Leave voting constituencies that they stood no chance of winning in, such as Normonton, Pontefract & Castleford, which voted 69% to Leave the EU but has the ultra Remain Labour MP Yvette Cooper.
Now, this constituency used to be just Pontefract & Castleford until the 2010 General Election and had always polled very heavily at about 70% for Labour.
Since 2010 that has been pared back slightly to between 48 and 60% and usually double the vote of the second placed candidate.
In 2010, Yvette Cooper won with over 22,000 votes and the Tories came second with 11,300.
In 2015, Yvette Cooper won with over 25,000 votes and UKIP came second with nearly 10,000 votes.
And in 2017 Yvette Cooper won with over 29,000 votes, the Tories came second with nearly 15,000 and UKIP third with 3,000.
So, a win for anyone other than Labour there would I think be a miracle, especially if The Brexit Party was seen by local voters to be operating closely with the Tories. But then again these are strange times.
And as for a general election happening. Boris Johnson has said he won't be calling one and, even if he did he would need two thirds of MPs to vote for one.
So that leaves the only other route of a vote of no confidence in the government. Something Jeremy Corbyn has said would be at a time of his choosing.
But, as I've said before, as the leader of the official opposition, Jeremy Corbyn is the only person who can initiate a vote of no confidence in the government.
Corbyn will therefore be hoping that once Boris has lost the vote, to either then have a vote of confidence in himself and his team to run the country, or to force a General Election.
On the first point, it is questionable whether Corbyn would be able to win a vote of confidence for himself and on the second of a General Election, according to the House of Commons Library the earliest a General Election can now be held as a result of a vote of no confidence motion is Brexit Day itself, October the 31st.
But many MPs want a vote of no confidence so they can attempt to form what is called a government of national unity around another MP.
And remember MPs do get a full two weeks to try and form a new government that has the confidence of the house.
So the question is, if Corbyn thinks that is what MPs are up to, would he go ahead with a motion of no confidence given it could well mean he would personally be out on his ear probably for good as a result?
Unless a group of Tory MPs crossed the floor to the Lib Dems, so stripping Boris Johnson of his majority. The Lib Dems could then offer to back Corbyn as long as he delivers an Article 50 extension and a second EU referendum where Labour campaigns for Remain.
Corbyn might just win it then.
And those Remainer MPs, if they were able to achieve that feat, would not ever allow a General Election - there would be far too many risks with getting the voters involved before they'd had a chance to be 'conditioned'. No, they will be intent on only two things: asking the EU for another Article 50 extension with the express aim of running a second EU referendum.

The Tories yesterday were beaten into second place by the Lib Dems in the Brecon and Radnorshire by-election.
And as I said in a video about it this morning, the Tories would almost certainly have won the seat had The Brexit Party stood aside for them.
And this has galvanised the Tories to put out a video of their new Conservative Party chairman and MP for Braintree, James Cleverly, basically saying that a vote for The Brexit Party only makes getting Brexit done harder. Therefore, he said, the only way to get Brexit done is with Boris Johnson and the Conservatives.
And an article in Portcullis Magazine calls the Brecon and Radnorshire by-election an exercise in vote-splitting and makes the claim that if you vote for the Brexit Party you'll get Remain.
And the reason for this says the piece, is that the strategy employed by Nigel Farage is 'outdated and inappropriate', saying:
"Farage's attack strategy, which was perfectly appropriate when Mrs May was ensconced in Downing Street, is now misplaced and counter-productive."
And it goes on to say that:
"The Conservative Party is the only one in any position to deliver Brexit and it is time for the Brexit Party and its supporters to recognise that, refrain from overestimating their own importance, cease activities which imperil the government's tiny majority and support Boris' efforts to leave the European Union on October 31."
The trouble for those that want to see that though, is Nigel Farage watched his old party of UKIP stand aside after the 2016 EU referendum, most notably in the 2017 General Election and then saw the total anti-Brexit stitch-up unfold before his eyes.
Once bitten - as they say.
Today in a Tweet Nigel Farage said:
"Without us keeping Westminster honest, there will be no clean break Brexit on October 31st. The Tories have no choice but to deliver."
And to back it up he has announced another 50 Westminster parliamentary candidates, saying that if the Tories don't deliver, they will be annihilated and the his party has declared that it is preparing to fight all 650 MP seats across the country in a Brexit General Election.
But the little problem there, is that as far as I can see from the Electoral Commission website, The Brexit Party is only registered in Great Britain, but not in Northern Ireland where there are 18 seats available. So Nigel Farage can only stand candidates in 632 seats unless he also registers The Brexit Party in Northern Ireland.
Anyway, the message appears clear, that Nigel Farage and The Brexit Party are going to be snapping at the heels of Boris Johnson and the Conservatives every inch of the Brexit journey.
They would probably say that the threat of The Brexit Party is to the domestic side of Brexit, what the no deal Brexit is to the EU negotiation side of Brexit.
But the problem is that both sides could become very entrenched and achieve what many Brexiteers fear when two dogs fight over the Brexit bone - a Remainer runs off with it.

Nigel Farage Attacks the Boris Johnson Brexit Plan! |
(Y) | Nigel Farage |
Nigel Farage has fired a warning shot at the new Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, by attacking his Brexit plan.

Speaking on his LBC radio show, the leader of The Brexit party, Nigel Farage, has dismantled the Boris Johnson Brexit plan and said it was 'for the birds'.
And when listening to what Boris Johnson said during his visit to Scotland yesterday, you can understand Farage's cynicism.
Boris Johnson said that the UK needs to build a new partnership with the EU, co-operating on such things as defence, security and intelligence together with scientific and cultural collaboration. 'Everything you would expect' he said. but with a free trade deal that allows us to make our own deals and control our own tariffs.
And once again reiterated his commitment to leaving the EU, come what may, on the 31st of October 2019.
Now, I have to agree with Nigel Farage when he interpreted this to mean that Boris wants us to believe that within the 93 days remaining prior to Brexit Day that he is going to forge a whole Irish border backstop-less deal with the EU.
To which Farage said, 'that ain't gonna happen'.
So what Boris is trying to do, said The Brexit Party leader, is get rid of the backstop. Then present the exact same Withdrawal Agreement surrender treaty agreed by Theresa May, minus the backstop, to the country as a brand new deal and a big victory for Boris.
And Boris can then point at it and say that it includes all the new partnership stuff on defence, culture and science etc that I talked about earlier.
Now, as many commentators have pointed out in the past, here are lots of things wrong with the whole of the Withdrawal Agreement, with the backstop being just one of them.
The whole Withdrawal Agreement has to go.
So, if the Boris game is to re-package the whole thing minus the backstop as his own, then he is going to be found out very, very quickly.
Especially if he ends up arguing for a 'short technical' Article 50 extension to get the deal through parliament.
But Farage is on the case and hasn't just stopped with talking on his radio show.
There are reports that he is about to unveil another 150 parliamentary candidates for any forthcoming general election and he has already upset the Tories by standing a candidate in this Thursday's parliamentary by-election in Brecon and Radnorshire. This has allowed the Lib Dems to gather the Remain vote as the Greens and Plaid stand aside so giving them a very strong run for the seat which, if they win, will cut right into the Tories' remaining majority.
As has been said before, political parties only listen when their MPs start losing seats.
Finally, what is it about Brexiteers and busses? First you had the £350 million a week bus and now you have the Brexit Party bus that fails to proceed.
BBC journalist Sue Charles was travelling to Cardiff over the weekend when she came across a Brexit Party campaign bus with its nose buried in a hedge and blocking a lay-by.
There do seem to be some conflicting reports about whether it had either broken down, or that it had got stuck when trying to manoeuvre and turn around.
But whatever, maybe Brexiteers should steer clear of busses in future.
